Room divider
Acrylic glass, aluminium pipes, PLA clips
1800x537x13 mm
2022

A modular room divider that allows for some privacy without blocking the view entirely, keeping the room open and spacious. Easy to assemble and disassemble, no glue needed. Project partner: Nanna Helland Berger.

Prototype 1:1. The acrylic glass is laser cut in a pattern which changes its appearance and transparency with the shift of perspective.

Several iterations ended in a pattern of rectangles – the most simplistic arrangement with the maximum visual effect.

The acrylic glass needed to be divided into smaller parts to prevent it from bending during laser-cutting. The parts are framed by aluminium pipes, mounted in CNC-cut slots and fastened with 3D-printed clips.

The connecters between several units of the divider are neon yellow, giving the divider just a touch of colour and playfulness.

The construction is otherwise reduced to its minimum letting the acrylic glass be the leading part of the design.
